Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis 1 to join our culinary team at Swissotel Corniche Park Towers in Doha, Qatar. As a Commis 1, you will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen operations and contributing to the overall success of our dining experience.

Assist in the preparation of ingredients and mise en place for daily kitchen operations
Follow recipes and cooking techniques as directed by senior kitchen staff
Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
Collaborate with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth service delivery
Support Chef de Partie in various kitchen tasks and food preparation
Assist in the proper storage and labeling of food items
Participate in kitchen cleaning and maintenance routines
Contribute to menu development and suggest improvements when appropriate
Adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently during peak hours
Continuously learn and develop culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs

Qualifications

Previous experience as a Commis or in a similar entry-level culinary role, preferably in a 5-star hotel setting
Basic culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP guidelines
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Passion for food and commitment to delivering high-quality cuisine
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
Goal-oriented mindset with a desire to grow in the culinary field
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff
Basic English language proficiency
Valid work visa for Qatar or eligibility to obtain one
