Job Description: Samherji hf., one of Iceland's leading fishing companies, is seeking motivated individuals to join their crew as Deckhands. This role involves working on fishing vessels, assisting with daily operations, and ensuring the efficient and safe harvesting of marine resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in fishing operations, including setting and retrieving nets or lines
Handle and process catch according to company standards
Maintain cleanliness and functionality of the deck and equipment
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
Collaborate effectively with other crew members
Qualifications:
Previous experience in commercial fishing is advantageous but not mandatory
Physical fitness and the ability to work in demanding sea conditions
Basic understanding of maritime safety practices
Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends
Ability to communicate effectively in English or Icelandic
