Your 'day to day'

As a Math and Product Artificial Intelligence Senior Engineer, you will lead the development and implementation of advanced mathematical and Artificial Intelligence solutions related to complex product and operational challenges. You will ensure strategic driving innovation, mentoring of team members, and bridging between innovative research and practical applications, as well as successful delivery of impactful, data-driven solutions that align with the company’s objectives by collaborating across R&D, product development, and data science teams. Moreover, you will be responsible strategies related to the implementation of novel technologies reinforcing and enabling the enriching & optimization of PMI ecosystems’ analytics solutions to meet business needs. You will also provide support to teams by assessing their analytical requirements, identifying business needs and opportunities for analytics solutions development in line with company’s sustainable growth ambitions. You will ensure scalability and customer-centricity of analytical products, as well as lead fast prototyping capabilities.


More specifically, you'll

• Be responsible for Advanced Mathematical and Artificial Intelligence Model Development. Design and lead the creation of complex mathematical models to solve high-impact business and product challenges. Develop and deploy advanced Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning models, enhancing techniques such as deep learning, probabilistic modeling, and optimization algorithms. Lead feasibility studies and simulations to inform product innovation and operational improvements. Identify, evaluate, develop, implement and maintain novel Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning approaches.

• Ensure Strategic Leadership. Define technical strategies and guide the application of mathematical and Artificial Intelligence methodologies across projects. Act as an inspiring leader in identifying emerging trends and technologies relevant to the organization. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of excellence according.

• Lead Product and Process Innovation. Drive innovation by integrating Artificial Intelligence and mathematical insights into product development and optimization workflows. Collaborate with product teams to design experiments and prototypes that ensure Artificial Intelligence for enhanced functionality and performance. Establish metrics to evaluate product efficiency, quality, and user impact. Conduct knowledge transfer to other teams to ensure optimal use of novel approaches.

• Ensure Collaboration and Engagement. Work closely with multi-functional teams, including data scientists, product managers, and engineers, to align technical efforts with business goals. Communicate complex mathematical and Artificial Intelligence concepts to technical and non-technical teams clearly and concisely. Represent the Math Center of Excellence in global and regional forums, sharing insights and driving collaboration.

• Conduct and oversee research in applied mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning to explore innovative solutions. Publish findings, file patents, or contribute to industry-wide thought leadership. Develop and maintain proprietary tools and frameworks to accelerate the adoption of advanced techniques within the organization.


Who we're looking for

• Master’s Degree, PhD in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in tobacco or consumer goods industry, in Applied Data Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and Mathematical Modeling, as well as sound expertise in specific related technology areas. Understanding of key processes in technology delivery.

• Exposure to International environment. Strong leadership in technical project management, team mentoring, or multi-functional collaboration.

• Demonstrated expertise in solving complex real-world problems with advanced mathematical and Artificial Intelligence techniques.

• Advanced proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, MATLAB, or Julia.

• Strong collaboration, agility and entrepreneurship, as well as sound analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to learn. Great attention to details and natural willingness to challenge the status quo.

• Good expertise in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning libraries and frameworks.

• Fluent in English (verbally and written); strong communicator with the ability to influence.
