Position summary
As a Legal and Compliance Counsel, you will provide support to the Legal & Compliance department. Your responsibilities include:

Developing, communicating and executing legal, compliance, regulatory and risk management strategies for Nestlé in the Market
Acting as a Business Partner, proactively protecting and enabling the business, being accountable for the L&C issues under his/her responsibility and providing strategic solution-oriented advice within the EU & local legal framework while taking into account reputational considerations & the Group’s policies and guidelines


A day in the life…

• Delivering support in defined L&C areas, as determined by the Head of L&C and supporting the development of long-term strategies to accelerate the L&C team’s ability to protect and enable the organization in those areas
• Proactively training the organization on the L&C areas that the individual supports
• Working closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders at all levels (potentially including senior management) to provide expert and business-focused day-to-day counsel across a broad scope of issues. As part of this, the individual will work collaboratively with the Local, Zone and Global contacts to leverage synergies and global expertise for the benefit of the local business and support the Center/Zone on Centre/Zone-led strategic initiatives including the implementation of L&C technology, as well as collaborating on market specific requests from the Center
• Managing litigations/conflicts under the individual’s area of responsibility by leading external law firms and internal stakeholders
• Participating in regulatory investigations
• Being responsible for the Legal Archive, the preparation of legal evidence/court files & legalization re litigations as per instructions by Senior Legal Counsels & GC and Legal Reporting, as well as other legal digital tools


What makes you successful

Education

• University Degree in Law by reputable Greek University - LLM is a plus
• Excellent English (also legal terminology) is a must ; Bilingual/Multilingual ability is an asset

Experience

• Member of the Athens Bar Association 5-6 years
• Prior in-house experience, preferably in the consumer-packaged goods industry, is an asset
• Experience in a large, reputable firm is an asset
• Experience as a generalist & in litigation

Technical /soft skills

• Expertise in accountable L&C areas (Commercial, Civil, Company & Consumer Law/ GDPR/ IT Digital (platforms, cloud etc.) & Antitrust), supplemented by general knowledge of other L&C areas affecting the organization
• Pragmatic business sense and understanding of core business fundamentals
• Analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to analyze and interpret data
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to translate complicated L&C concepts to understandable business terms
• Excellent organizational and communication skills service orientation, ability to handle pressure, discretion and results focus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
